INTRODUCTION: The North County Marshal’s Office is one of three units providing security services to the Alameda County Superior Courts. The Lieutenant assigned as Unit Commander answers to the Court Services Captain, who in-turn reports to the Countywide Services Division Commander.

MISSION STATEMENT: The mission of the Marshal’s Office is to provide those services mandated by statute as well as to maintain the safety and security of all who enter the courthouses.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide courtroom security, maintain control of in-custody prisoners, provide weapons screening at designated buildings and liaison between local police agencies and the courts.

COURTROOM DEMEANOR FOR THE GENERAL PUBLIC: No eating/drinking, no talking or making of excessive noise in the courtroom.  Babies or young children who are crying/talking must be removed from the courtroom. There is absolutely no communication with in-custody defendants, either verbal or non-verbal. Unauthorized communication is against California Penal Code Section 4570, which is a misdemeanor.

FACILITIES SERVED: The North County Marshal’s Office provides security staff at three sites in the north county area.
