MARSHAL'S SOUTH COUNTY OFFICE

INTRODUCTION: The South County Marshal's Office is one of three units providing security to the Alameda County Superior Courts. A Lieutenant is assigned as Unit Commander who answers to the Court Services Captain, who in turn reports to the Countywide Services Division Commander.

MISSION STATEMENT: The mission of the Marshal's Office personnel is to provide those services mandated by statute and the Court as well as maintain the safety and security of all who enter the courthouse.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide courtroom security, maintain control of in-custody prisoners, direct juries during the trial process, provide weapons screening at designated buildings and liaison between local police agencies and other courts within the county. Marshals have been administered an oath so they can watch over juries during deliberations.

COURTROOM DEMEANOR FOR THE GENERAL PUBLIC: No eating/drinking, and no talking or making of excessive noise in the courtroom.  Babies or young children who are crying/talking must be removed from the courtroom. There is absolutely no communication with in-custody defendants, either verbal or non-verbal. Unauthorized communication is against California Penal Code Section 4570, which is a misdemeanor.

The Hayward Marshal's Office provides security staff at two locations in the southern area of Alameda County.

Operating hours are Monday, Wednesday through Friday, 7:45 AM - 4:30 PM, and Tuesday 7:45 AM - 6 PM (night court).

FREMONT MARSHAL'S OFFICE

FACILITIES SERVED: The Fremont Marshal's Office provides security staff at one location in the southern area of Alameda County.

Fremont Hall of Justice

Hours of operation: Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm.
Night Court is held on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month.
