The Alameda County Sheriff's Office, Emergency Services Dispatch unit provides 9-1-1 emergency and non-emergency telephone service, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. We service the public in the unincorporated areas of Castro Valley, Hayward, Cherryland, Ashland, San Lorenzo, San Leandro, Sunol,
Pleasanton and Livermore. Along with those unincorporated areas of the county, we contract dispatch services for AC Transit Police Services, Animal Control, Camp Parks Federal Police, Dublin Police Services, Highland Hospital Police Services, Oakland Airport Police Services, Peralta Police Services, and the Social Services Agency Police Services.

The Emergency Services Dispatch unit has five radio consoles that operate on a Motorola 800-MHz radio system. We have two main dispatch talk groups, two services talk groups, a field services talk group and multiple tactical talk groups that can be utilized in case of a special event or major emergency. Our Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) has
four positions equipped with a Positron CRT based Power 9-1-1 telephone system which accepts Telecommunications Device for the Deaf (TDD) calls automatically.
For the year 2007, our unit dispatched over 189,495 calls for service and answered
75,279 seven digit & 9-1-1 emergency calls, 195, 016 seven digit business calls and made
60,615 outgoing calls.
Our staffing consists of:
27 Dispatchers (3 vacant), 4 Dispatch Supervisors, 1 Training Supervisor, 1 Dispatch Manager and 1 Specialist Clerk
| Mission Statement
The Emergency Services Dispatch Unit of the Alameda County
Sheriff’s Office will diligently work to provide public safety
dispatch services to the citizens of Alameda County. This unit
will provide law enforcement dispatch services to the Law
Enforcement Services Division of the Alameda County Sheriff’s
Office, the City of Dublin Police Services, the Camp Parks
Federal Police Services as well as multiple user agencies. The
ESD unit willingly accepts responsibility for:
Providing effective and
efficient support to the citizens of Alameda County and
public safety responders.
Recognizing that our unit is
often the first contact point for citizens and other
agencies, we strive to maintain a respectful demeanor with
the community we serve during emergent and non-emergent
situations.
Identifying, via phone call or
radio transmission, the particular needs of the caller to
determine an appropriate level of response by the
appropriate resource provider (Law, Fire, Medical or other
Local Government entity) and based on policy and procedure,
provide the necessary dispatch of resources.
Delivering consistent,
efficient and expeditious dispatch service to the citizens
of Alameda County and public safety agencies we serve.
Expertly applying dispatch
protocols necessary to deliver the appropriate public safety
response to those in need.
