P.O.S.T. ACADEMY

P.O.S.T. Regular Basic Course/Academy
Recently, the Regional Training Center received National Accreditation through the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA) and Public Safety Training Academy Accreditation (PSTAA). The Regional Training Center is one of a select few to have earned this award, and is the only training center in the State to have received it.

All training is accomplished at the Regional Training Center and classes are held Monday through Friday. Some evening and weekend classes are held for specialized training.

Educational Benefits
Total hours to graduate are 1056 hours, including a 40-hour developmental English class, critical to success in the academic setting. Upon completion of the Regular Basic Course you can (will) receive:

  • Up to 31.25 semester college units from Las Positas College
  • Non-lethal Chemical Agents card (mandated by Section 12403 P.C.)
  • First Aid/CPR Cards
  • P.O.S.T. Certificate of Completion for the Regular Basic Course

The Regional Training Center is a high technology, modern facility in Alameda County. The facility is comprised of:

  • Classrooms
  • Ranges
  • EVOC - Emergency Vehicle Operations Course
  • Computer Learning Center
  • Scenario Village
  • Chemical Agents Room
  • Weight/Workout Gym
  • Track
