Canine Training Program

The Alameda County Sheriff's Office, in conjunction with the California Commission on Peace Officers Standards and Training (POST), is developing a comprehensive law enforcement canine training program.  Courses in basic advanced, and specialized canine training, as well as program management, will be presented at the Regional Training Center's newly developed canine facilities.

Additionally, the Alameda County Sheriff's Office, in cooperation with the California State Office of Homeland Security, is developing a Counter-Terrorism Canine Program.  This comprehensive training program is geared toward increasing the capabilities of first responders in order to successfully deter, prevent, prepare for and respond to a terrorist attack where explosive compounds are used.

The Regional Training Center's Canine Training Facility Includes:

  • Capability of multiple K-9 training venues
  • Exercise/parade track
