3-DAY EVOC/PURSUIT DRIVING UPDATE

DESCRIPTION: This course is designed to instruct law enforcement personnel in the lawful requirements of operating an emergency vehicle under Pursuit and Code 3 conditions. The student will be instructed in the areas required by POST in order to meet the mandated training requirements in Penal Code Section 13519.8. The students will be instructed in the driving skills required while operating an emergency vehicle in Pursuit and Code 3 conditions. The students will be required to successfully complete numerous simulated emergency responses and police pursuits.
INSTRUCTORS: All instructors are POST certified with a wide range of experience.
PREREQUISITE: Must be a full-time, part-time or reserve law enforcement officer or active military, unless prior arrangements are made with the EVOC Coordinator. Must be in excellent physical condition and free of any prior injuries that may be aggravated by intensive vehicle weight transfer, braking, turning or skidding. All students who are not members of the Alameda County Sheriff's Office must sign a liability waiver (enclosed).
PRESENTATION HOURS: The courses begin at 0800 and end at 1700. The course will be presented at the Alameda County Sheriff's Office Firearms Training Facility.
CERTIFICATION: P.O.S.T. Plan I. (100% reimbursable including cost of overtime to cover shift assignment / backfill).
REQUIRED EQUIPMENT: Students are required to have a valid driver's license. Students should wear suitable clothing, such as long pants (no shorts or skirts), a comfortable shirt, and sturdy shoes. Athletic shoes are acceptable. No sandals, high heels, or dress shoes are allowed. No gun belts or handguns are allowed on the course. Students may wish to have medication available for the prevention of motion sickness.
LOCATION: The course will be conducted at the Alameda County Sheriff's Office, Regional Training Center, 6289 Madigan Road, Dublin, CA.
