INSTRUCTOR DEVELOPMENT COURSE (AICP)

The Alameda County Sheriff's Office presents an Instructor Development course in compliance with the California Commission on Peace Officers Standards and Training (POST) Academy Instructor Certificate Program (AICP).

DESCRIPTION: The student will develop the skills, competencies and knowledge necessary to deliver any instructional training course for peace officers in a manner that emphasizes the retention and application of knowledge consistent with the goals and mission of policing. This course meets the POST training requirements for the Academy Instructor Certificate Program. Core competencies will include: the instructors role in law enforcement training, application of adult learning concepts, effective lesson planning, presentation and facilitation techniques, as well as evaluating, testing and remediation.

INSTRUCTOR(S): The primary instructor for this course is a graduate of the POST Master Instructor Development Program (MIDP) with 27 years law enforcement experience with the Alameda County Sheriff's Office. All other instructors are veteran law enforcement trainers.

PREREQUISITIES: Must currently be assigned, or pending an assignment, as a trainer in either a law enforcement academy, continued professional training (CPT) or law enforcement training environment.

PRESENTATION DATES & HOURS: This is a 40 hours course (beginning 0800 Hrs).  See below for dates available.

CERTIFICATION & FEES:  POST Plan IV - $343.00

RESERVATIONS:  This course is limited to 20 students and reservations will be made on a first come, first served basis. LOCATION: The course will be conducted at the Alameda County Sheriff's Office, Regional Training Center, 6289 Madigan Road, Dublin, CA. [map].
