LAW ENFORCEMENT MEDIATION TRAINING

DESCRIPTION:  Conducting mediation is an irreplaceable, highly visible asset to sworn officers, professionals, business owners, and laypersons alike. Mediation can mean time and cost savings for patrol officers and the difference in a mutual, peaceable, stress-reducing solution to many issues which involve police intervention with the general public. Housed under criteria compliance with the 1986 State Dispute Resolution Programs Act, MEDIATION SERVICES training assists participants to be at their best in mediation process, role-play, video feedback, the use of impartiality & neutrality, as well as alternatives for managing emotional issues in situations during conflict.

INSTRUCTORS:  All instructors are POST certified, veteran officers from Alameda County Sheriff's Office, Hayward Police Department, and professional mediation trainers from MEDIATION SERVICES.

PREREQUISITES:  Must be sworn or non-sworn law enforcement personnel.

PRESENTATION HOURS:  This is a 3-day, 24-hour course that starts at 0800 each day.

CERTIFICATION: STC & POST Plan IV.

RESERVATIONS:  This course is limited to 30 students and reservations will be made on a first come, first serve basis. LOCATION: The course will be conducted at the Alameda County Sheriff's Office, Regional Training Center, 6289 Madigan Road, Dublin, CA. [map].
