8-HOUR FIREARMS & DRIVING SIMULATOR

(No charge to POST agencies)

Meets multiple perishable skills program requirements

DESCRIPTION: This 8-hour program combines two 4-hour blocks, one block for the Firearms Simulator and one block for the Driving Simulator. The Firearms (Force Option) Simulator block uses the advanced 'state-of-the-art', fully interactive PRISIM 2000 System with shoot back cannon and 'Air Munitions'. The course is designed to improve decision-making skills for the Peace Officer as they relate to Use of Force. The Driver Simulator block uses the FAAC System. Four stations designed around a fully interactive world containing 200 miles of roadway terrain and interactive traffic, surface roads, rural, commercial, and residential.  Advanced graphics processors simulate real driving conditions along with vehicle failures. This block also teaches decision-making skills for the Peace Officer.

INSTRUCTORS: All Instructors are POST certified and are subject matter experts in their field.

PREREQUISITE: Must be a full-time/reserve Peace Officer. Must be in excellent physical condition and free from any injuries.

LOCATION: Alameda County Sheriff's Office, Regional Training Center, 6289 Madigan Road, Dublin, CA. ( map ). Those attending the course will first meet at the Driver Simulator classroom located at the main training facility. 

CERTIFICATION: POST PLAN II

REQUIRED EQUIPMENT: Comfortable clothing, and duty belt for the Force Option Simulator. No high heels or restrictive clothing.

LODGING: Reservations for lodging must be arranged by the student or his/her agency [hotel list].
