TACTICAL MEDICAL WORKSHOP

Fee: $67.00

DESCRIPTION: This one-day (8) hour course is an introduction to the world of Tactical Medicine. The course will focus on the specific needs of the tactical team member who might find themselves having to take care of a team member or others in the course of their duties. Focus will be on scene safety, rapid triage/treatment and medical decision-making as it pertains to the tactical environment. Personal medical kits and team rescue equipment will be addressed. The expected outcome of this course is to have the students come away with a level of proficiency in recognizing and stabilizing serious traumatic injuries, and to be better able to communicate with medical support and prioritize the care of victims in the tactical environment.

INSTRUCTOR:  Jim Morrissey, President and Co-Founder of Hands On Training. Jim is also a Founding Member and the Head of Faculty of Wilderness Medical Associates. Jim is one of three founding members of Wilderness Medical Associates and Co-wrote, edited and field tested all program curriculum and course materials Jim has been the instructor/consultant of over 400 training courses for numerous United States Military Organizations, Foreign Military Organizations, Federal, State, and local Police Agencies, as well as the F.B.I. Hostage Rescue Team. Jim is currently a Paramedic with the San Francisco FBI SWAT team.

PREREQUISITES:  Students must be full time sworn law enforcement officer, or active military personnel. All students who are not members of the Alameda County Sheriff's Office must sign a liability waiver.

PRESENTATION HOURS:  This is an 8 hour course starting at 0800.

CERTIFICATION:  Plan IV.
