  • 9-1-1 GOES TO WASHINGTON

    Last week, two Alameda County Sheriff's Office Emergency Services Dispatchers (ESD) and over 350 9-1-1 professionals from across the United States attended the National Emergency Number Association (NENA) conference 9-1-1 Goes to Washington (D.C.). The weeklong conference allowed ESD Supervisor Bernardi and ESD Filoteo to speak with several members of Congress and the Senate to help secure Federal funding for the Next Generation 911 (NG911) project, which will advance the capabilities of 911 throughout the nation. Currently, 911 or E911 is a land wire-based legacy system with limited capabilities regarding the current technology that today's cellular and VOIP users may require.

  • Deputy Ruan was presented with a City of Oakland Mayor’s Proclamation

    On Sunday, February 25, 2024, Deputy Ruan was presented with a City of Oakland Mayor’s Proclamation by Kimberly Mayfield, the Deputy Mayor, during a Lunar New Year celebration at Toishan‘s Drat Spring Banquet. Deputy Ruan received the Mayor’s Proclamation for his dedication and selfless service to the community, demonstrated when he assisted the Oakland Police Department (OPD) during the investigation of a violent attempted sexual assault in January 2024.

  • WE PLUNGE FOR SPECIAL OLYMPICS NORCAL

    On Saturday, February 24, 2024, Alameda County Sheriff's Office (ACSO) personnel made a splash at the annual Special Olympics NorCal Polar Plunge at Aquatic Park in San Francisco. This is one of many events the ACSO participates in yearly to raise funds for more than 17,000 athletes who depend on fundraising efforts to achieve their dreams of participating in the Special Olympics.
